‘Fear Of A Blank Planet’ is an ambitious 50-minute musical composition consisting of 6 tracks fused into a cohesive whole. British art-rockers Porcupine Tree created a concept album based on Bret Easton Ellis' novel “Lunar Park”, with lyrics describing how the teenage protagonist struggled with his bipolar disorder and attention deficit disorder through prescription medication and excessive internet use.
The music utilised sprawling vocals, atmospheric guitars and percussion that flowed over chaotic passages to reflect the protagonist's manic-depressive states. ‘Fear Of A Blank Planet’ featured contributions from Robert Fripp (King Crimson) and Rush guitarist Alex Lifeson.
Porcupine Tree released their latest album ‘The Incident’ in 2009, taking another step forward in the incredible journey of a band that began as a solo studio project created by Steven Wilson in the late eighties and has evolved into a multiple Grammy-nominated and one of the world's most revered live bands, garnering full houses around the world and wowing fans with their incredible performances.
